A fine post Lazere, and I totally agree. That post of mine was quite negative, but state of mind and other posts made it all flow out!!
In a gesture akin to eating my hat, I must say that I did like *some* of the excerpts from the album, available on www.jarre.net. A couple were a bit too abstract for me, but the production values are very high, and there is melody, with a lot more going on in the background.
I therefore await this album with a more positive, open mind. Like I said, if I like it I like it, if I don't I don't.
I guess in a way this album is like the arrival of Zoolook. That was such a radical concept for its time that most Jarre fans didn't take to it straight away. Now, 2 decades later, it remains my favourite Jarre album. Technically amazing in every sense. Maybe this Sessions 2000 is Jarre preparing to launch a sequel to Zoolook onto us?!!

You are quite right Mr P.
I would stick by Jarre, whatever he released. He is a true artist (with the emphasis on the 'ART')
There are so many new music producers now, with the introduction of affordable technology and the internet to promote their music.
I'm sure it's a great thing to be able to listen to home grown productions that don't come from a massive studio and have'nt been subjected to the scrutinisation of A&R people before it reaches us. It is raw expression, a real freedom of musical speach.
It would be a waste to not hear what else Jarre has created. How would you feel if you liked the style of an artists paintings, but all they drew was Penguins? (I guess JMJ would love it as he is rather passionate about them!) On the other hand, would you hang the same picture on every single wall? Would you eat the same meal every time you went to a Resaurant? You would want variety, contrast and balance.
You are entitled to you opinion on the music that you 'Hate' (a rather extreme emotion I would say) but I somehow think that in time you will develop a more open minded view.
I hope you enjoy it.

Shall I tell you why I am negative about this album?
1) I hate Jazz 2) I hate Electro/Dance 3) I hated his other "experimental filler" albums
Therefore, from all I have read about it, the chances are I won't like it. I will buy it and give it a chance, purely for collection completeness. If I like it I like it, if I don't I don't.
What I find very lame though, is people on here saying that people like me are "afraid" of his change in style. What complete cack. As I stated at the top of this comment, I don't like the style that this album is said to be in. I just happen to like good old-fashioned melodic symphonic synth with huge soundscapes like Jarre used to produce. Now, he is very much mainstream in his music, and to be honest, I hear better stuff from people on places like MP3.com. One guy (Mike Andrews) is a Jarre fans dream come true. Music full of catchy melodies and synth riffs; way better than anything on Metamorphoses.
Anybody can do dance or ambient music, but not everybody can write proper catchy melodies. Still, maybe you don't like melodies? My point is, I like a certain musical style, and it just so happens that Jarre has for a long time been one of the best artists in this area of music. But, I'm not going to force myself to like something I don't just because it is written by a certain person.

how can some1 critisize an album that hasnt been heard yet; are JARRE FANS afraid of change in his music.
thats what i like about him so much. admitedly though his last 2 albums have been rather poor, but they are still a joy to listen to.
i cannot wait to hear his new album, will be as fresh and new as the others i expect.

Looking at the style of the album cover and the basic info we have about it, Looks like it could appeal to our new club culture.
There has been a huge turn towards Chill Out, Jazz and Ambient lately, with people listening to much more diverse styles.
Perhaps this album will find him a new breed of audience. One that appreciates his diversity and allows him to create and explore beyond the barriers of music and time.
I have been a fan since I heard Oxygene at the age of 6. Each of his albums holds a special memory for me. They are all individual. Let's see what Session 2000 holds for us. I'm sure we'll be pleasantly surprised. |

the reason for the critizism is simple, with all jarre releases we are given months notice only to be told the release dates have been set back, suddenly we are told an album is out in 3 weeks time GO AND BUY IT. AND WITH A TITLE OF SESSION 2000,we are left with the question,IF THIS WAS GOOD ENOUGH WHY WASN'T IT RELEASED IN 2001,
so the only conclusion is........THIS ALBUM IS A FILLER ,SOON TO BE NEVER MENTION AGAIN LIKE JARREMIX AND ODYSSEY THROU o2 |

The concept of Sessions 2000, is similar to his 1993 album Chronologie, in using the concept of time. Look at the names of the tracks in Session 2000, it's a chronologie, and maybe, an "Equinoxe". (no critisism, just a thought)
I'm looking forward to listen to this album.
I don't understand how people can give critisism to this album, when no one has listen to it? No logic.... |

I also think we should let Jean Michel " fly free" I went to the Areo Show in Danmark..And he looked so happy and excited..When he introduced his new song..Light my sky..It was just wonderful. A show I will never forget. :-) |

How sad it is to read negative comments like this. It seems that some fans will not allow JMJ to follow his journey. I seriously believe that the concept of Sessions 2000 is long overdue. This is a chance for us to experience a new side to JMJ.
I remember reading Jarre's biography many years ago and was shocked to see him sitting at a piano. Why should I be? I was young then and thought Jarre only played sparkly synths and Lazer beams! Perhaps many would like to see him stuck forever in the pigeon hole of pure 'Star Trek' electronic music ... where many a cuckoo have come to nest in the past 10 years.
Allow him to fly and be free to continue his fascinating journey.
When I look back at all his albums and the time they were released, they always fit the mood of the world around us. Jarre's music truly is the Soundtrack to our lives.
Remember the yellow ear on WFC cover. It held a message to us all ... Don't just hear the music. Listen. Listen to the message with which it comes.

After the (let's be honest) well below average Metamorphoses, I was hoping for a bit more than an extension to the dull, boring, lifeless "Interior Music" that was recorded for the B&O store in Paris.
I hope I'm wrong about this, but so far this new album sounds crap. |

CD Cover Artwork = Horrible, Nasty
I hope the music is much better. I do like cool jazz - I hope this music is in that style.
I was hoping for some of the Vizitors style music - it seems not.
Let's wait and see. |

The continuation of the 'Soundtrack to our lives ...
I think this album will be one of the most intimate and personal of Jarre's works to date.
I ordered mine today! |

Waooow !
There's a link to www.jeanmicheljarre.com on the back cover !!!
How nice they are, at Sony Music !!
;-)
Now, I'm waiting to hear the music, but I really think that this is an album made quickly just to escape from a contract with Sony Music ... |
