JEAN MICHEL JARRE TO PERFORM SPECTACULAR CONCERT AT THE AKROPOLIS
When it comes to spectacular live music events around the globe, Jean Michel Jarre is the man who wrote the book. Now he's preparing to write a new chapter and you could call it the eighth wonder of the world. After defying all the laws of conventional performance with awe inspiring concerts in Houston; Texas, at the Eiffel Tower; Paris, Shanghai, London, Peking, Moscow and the "Millennium Night Concert" at the Pyramids in Egypt, the pioneer of electronic music; Jean Michel Jarre has been invited to perform two concerts at the Akropolis in Athens, Greece on June 19th & 20th 2001.
Jean Michel will present these two exceptional performances in front of an audience of 10,000, who will witness his stunning music and state-of-the-art scenography. They will also be lending their support to the ELPIDA Friends Association of Children with Cancer- presided over by Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. All proceeds from the concerts will be going towards the construction of a hospital for children with cancer.
Set against the breath-taking backdrop of the Herodus Atticus Odeon in Athens, the 'Akropolis' project has been composed and will be performed and directed by Jarre. The once in a lifetime experience coincides with the renowned Hellenic Festival and will allow Jarre to unveil a new composition written specifically for the occasion and dedicated to this historic site.
Following on from the stunning visual legacy of past projects the Akropolis concert will continue the precedent set by previous shows. Composed and structured in the form of a futuristic suite, Jarre's performance promises to create a unique musical and theatrical experience.
