JEAN MICHEL JARRE IN DEMONSTRATION AGAINST JEAN-MARIE LE PEN
by revo on 30/04/2002.

A protest was held today at Centre Pompidou, in Paris, with famous French stars and students declaring to 'defend the republic' against Jean-Marie Le Pen, referring to the forthcoming second round of the French Presidental Election this Sunday.

Since the result of the first round of the election on Sunday 21st April, the effect of the high vote that Le Pen received has been felt worldwide, and today Jean Michel Jarre has shown he is against Le Pen. Previously in an interview in 1998, Jarre had stated his dislike for the extreme right and Le Pen in France, and recalled an occassion in which the FN offered Jean Michel (and the record label) a lot of money for the rights to use Rendez-vous 4 as a 'theme' for the FN. Without hesitation, Jean Michel refused the offer.

An article about the protest can be read at Yahoo! France. Be sure to click on the photo to see a sombre-looking Jean Michel Jarre.
